Village Volunteers – May 2026

Village Volunteers – May 2026

Seven members of the Edington Village Volunteer Group met on the 20th May in blustery conditions to tackle this month’s tasks. We focussed on the area around the church car park, Monastery Road, Ralph’s Seat and the Coal Path – clearing, strimming, weeding, mowing and shovelling activities predominated, and we managed to achieve a great deal in a relatively short period of time adding a large pile to the collective compost heap.

Highlight of the session was, as always, the cake provided by Jan Richardson – this month’s cake of the day was a deliciously-moist chocolate cake, which was greatly appreciated by all.

A guest appearance was made by benefice rector Katey, who happened to be passing and was press-ganged into taking the group photo.

The group meets for a couple of hours at 9:30 a.m. on the third Wednesday of each month to carry out maintenance and improvement works around the village. We always welcome new members – we’re a very friendly bunch and there’s usually cake.

If you would like to join us for any month’s activity, please drop a note to john.richardson32@outlook.com, or on 01380 830902, who will be pleased to give details of our sessions.

We will next be meeting at 9.30 a.m. on the 17th of June.
