Creating an Autumnal Wreath with Kat from Flower Hive – 13th October

Kat from the Flower Hive in Westbury gave us an excellent demonstration on making an Autumnal wreath using plants mainly foraged from local hedgerows and the garden. She used a 9 inch circular solid base filled with oasis.

Stage1, and the most important, is to create a foliage base which was achieved using leylandii hedging, ivy and old man’s beard all randomly placed. Colour was added with Solidago, golden Chrysanthemum flowers, Virginia creeper and, for extra brightness, purple Callicarpa and orange Pyracantha berries. Finishing with dried poppy heads and pinecones, Kat had created a really beautiful wreath for use as a table setting or wall hanging. It should last for many weeks.
