The Parish Council met on 10th August to discuss routine parish business and review our governance documents in relation to their correctness, accuracy and relevance to the work of a local council. Neighbourhood Plan
The draft Neighbourhood Plan is still open for comments prior to a final redrafting and submission to Wiltshire Council for formal consultation. The revised plan can be found on the website here, as can a form for any comments you want to submit here. Please do take the opportunity to have your say about the plan and future development in the village.
Playfield
Wiltshire Council have approved the playfield land swap planning application by The Three Daggers and we expect work to commence towards the end of August. The playfield will be out of action whilst equipment is moved and associated works are completed. We hope to instal new equipment to replace previously broken equipment at the same time.
Highway Matters / Footpaths / LHFIG
- Crossroads Farm Junction – the Parish Council have reiterated their view to Wiltshire Council that the plan to improve junction visibility by relocating one of the hedges will not be sufficient and that we still think that the GIVE WAY signs on the joining roads to the main Edington-West Ashton road should be replaced by STOP signs. Wiltshire Council have declined to change their mind and so we will have to see whether their plan makes any material difference to junction safety once enacted before we try again in future.
- B3098 Safety – We are in the process of drafting a note to Wiltshire Council outlining the views of the village about B3098 safety. This B3098 strategy document will be reviewed by the Parish Council at the September meeting before then being presented to Wiltshire Council for their consideration. The outcome of the July 2026 B3098 survey can be found on the village website at https://edingtonwiltsparishcouncil.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/B3098-Traffic-Survey-Questionnaire-Analysis-final.pdf, and the strategy document will also be posted on the website once finalised.
Next Parish Council Meeting
