Six members of the Edington Village Volunteer Group (John Richardson, Eric Mitchell, Andrew Trigg, Neil Griffiths, Adrian Bate and Richard Hamber) met on 15th April to carry out spring cleaning activities around the Parish Hall and Monastery Road.
We revisited some of the areas that were tackled in the autumn of last year. That undoubtedly made our work a little easier this time around. We concentrated on clearing back vegetation on the path running down past the Parish Hall and the car park, and also clearing debris from the roadside alongside the Monastery Garden wall. Yet again, a large volume of material was cleared and removed. This month’s tea break featured blueberry muffins provided by John Richardson, as always.
The group meets for a couple of hours at 9:30am on the third Wednesday of each month to carry out maintenance and improvement works around the village. We always welcome new members – we’re a very friendly bunch and there’s usually cake. We will next be meeting at 9.30am on 20th May. The group would be keen to receive any ideas that people may have on future activities around the parish that the group may undertake.
Why not join in and help keep the village tidy. Contact John Richardson on 01380 830902 or drop a note to john.richardson32@outlook.com to volunteer.
