Founded in 1989, the TVM was established in response to transportation challenges faced by various groups, clubs, and societies in the villages of Edington, Erlestoke, and Coulston. The name ‘TVM’ has remained unchanged since inception due to its strong recognition within the community but, over time, the TVM has extended its services to support residents of Bratton and other neighbouring villages. Each year, the TVM facilitates more than 2,500 passenger journeys and covers approximately 6,000 miles.

The TVM addresses a range of transportation needs, including:

  • Assisting individuals without personal vehicles who may find public transport unsuitable for shopping trips, particularly due to the difficulty of carrying heavy bags; scheduled shopping trips offer door-to-door service and accept concessionary passes.
  • Meeting the social needs of those who appreciate group outings with familiar company and the reassurance of a safe return home, especially on dark evenings.
  • Supporting village organisations such as Brownies and youth groups that are unable to finance commercially hired transportation.
  • Providing transport to village events, such as those held at Edington Parish Hall or the coffee mornings at The Three Daggers.
  • Facilitating attendance at private gatherings and functions within the villages.
  • Offering private hire options for local groups including cricket teams, churches, and other community organisations.

Encouraged by the support, enthusiasm and appreciation of local villagers and groups who use our services, we are grateful to Wiltshire Council for the transport grants we have been awarded and the financial support of Edington Station Yard Ltd, local groups and organisations, and individual villagers; all of whom have made it possible for us to purchase and run the community minibus.
